Item Description: RAT PATROL METAL LUNCHBOX from Aladdin Industries 1967. This embossed and very rare R-6 lunchkit features the characters and scenes from the popular TV series of the same name - which ran three seasons from 1966-1968. Another masterpiece of color and action by arguably two of the best artists to ever create a lunchbox - AL artistic directors Robert Burton (of Hopalong Cassidy fame- the first fully lithographed kit) and Elmer Lehnhardt (who invented the “deep-relief 3-D embossing” featured on the main panels of this box). This is the nicest example of this kit we have seen – and super HTF investment grade kit that would be a highlight of any serious lunchbox collector. TV Series Storyline: Set in North Africa during World War II, this series chronicles the adventures of a 4-man team of commandos within the Long Range Desert Group. (In utter defiance of historical accuracy, the team consists of three Americans and one Brit.) Armed with jeeps equipped with .50-caliber machine guns--and endless chutzpah--they wage a highly irregular war against Rommel's Afrika Korps. Their most common nemesis is Hauptmann Dietrich, though Dietrich and the Rats join forces from time to time against a common enemy. Condition: Box and thermos are complete and correct (including original wire thermos holder). Box main front and rear panel lithos are clean and glossy throughout without any blemishes to the raised areas so typical with these vintage embossed boxes. Rim panels are also very clean and glossy. Box rims show very little - with no corner dents or dimples. Metal hardware is nice and shiny. Inside of box is also very clean overall with some minor rubbings - with no previous owner markings. Box in overall Near Mint C-9 condition - and comes complete with original retail sticker on side. Thermos lithos are clean and glossy throughout - in overall Near Mint C-9 condition - and comes complete with original retail insert.
